VR-Pod is a portable projector optimized for gamers and adventurists. It is a premium quality device packed with high lumens DLP optics running android 4.4. You can get it up and running in a minute to enjoy any game and movie like you normally could.

When normal is not enough, you can take your viewing experience to a higher level. Two or more VR-Pod can be linked wirelessly or by HDMI cables to stitch together ultra large or ultra wide projection image. Linking VR-Pod is more than just sharing media files over network. By splitting screen and synchronizing navigation controls (zoom, up, down etc.), VR-Pod works with each other to offer a more natural and convenient way to enjoy immersive media.

Making it Bigger, Brighter and Better

Up to 4 VR-Pods can be linked together horizontally (2x1, 3x1 or 4x1) or as a media wall (1x2, 2x2). The resulting image could be brighter and clearer than a high-end projector having the same multiple of brightness.  Brightness of projection image follows the “inverse-square law“. In another word, to double the projection image size, you need to double the projection distance. Image brightness will then be reduced to 1/4 of original size. On the contrary, brightness will multiply when more VR-Pod are linked together without changing projection distance.

Breaking the resolution barrier

Typical projectors on the market accept high definition input up to HD or even 4K. No matter how high the input resolution is, projector will it scale down to fit native resolution of light engine. For portable projectors, native resolution ranges from SVGA (800x600) to WXGA (1280x800). Even though projector typically gives you larger viewing image than having a monitor or TV, you don’t get to enjoy high definition quality of the video source. Pixel density also follows “inverse-square law”. When image size doubles, pixel density reduces to ¼ of original value. That’s why you will see pixilation when image size is larger than what’s intended for the projector.

When more VR-POD are played together, pixel density remains unchanged. The total sum of device resolution becomes the effective resolution of the composite image. You get to enjoy your high definition video source with a bigger, brighter and clearer composite projection.

Video gamers demand large viewing area for better immersive experience. It is common for gamers to invest in high-end graphic card to drive two or more displays.

Alternatively you can use a projector for larger viewing area. But a single projector doesn’t give you high image quality and brightness, which in turn affects gaming enjoyment.

VR-Pod is an effective alternative for multi-projector setup. You connect video output from game console/PC to VR-Pod. With built-in multi-display capabilities, VR-Pod can be daisy chained using HDMI cables. VR-Pod shares the video source and compose them into ultra-large or ultra-wide projection. This arrangement offers much better image quality and brightness than a single expensive projector can do.

Immersive media such as 360 movies gained popularity among sport and adventure enthusiasts for first person POV experience. More recently fisheye action-cam makes it ever more convenient to create immersive content. 

To enjoy immersive media, you can use a VR gear, or you can view it in standard 16:9 display while constantly move your view point around to look for interesting things. Either way is less than ideal for group viewing.

We learned from field tests that the most difficult task to create seamless projection composition is to have projectors physically aligned in the same orientation (height, angle of elevation, distance from screen etc.). This is particularly true when you only have little time to prepare for a causal setting. Industrial projectors use elaborated equipment to align composite projection. VR-Pod has built-in tools to achieve perfect alignment easily. Features like edge blending is essential to image stitching and is usually available in commercial and industrial grade projectors. VR-Pod includes such feature in a consumer product.

VR-Pod runs on Android 4.4 using powerful Quad-core CPU. With millions of apps available, you can turn VR-Pod from a media powerhouse, to a gaming console, and to a full-on productivity workstation in no time. VR-Pod includes a special media player app that can split and share video source with other VR-Pod and to arrange them into composite projection.

DLP Optics

VR-Pod features a 200 lumens LED DLP light engine and that is more powerful than most mini projectors on the market. We fit the brightest possible light source in a design that does not need a cooling fan, thus keeping the unit noise free. Our design offers best combination of brightness, resolution and contrast ratiio among comparable products.

Balanced Design

We crafted the shape and surfaces of VR-Pod so it can be placed horizontally, vertically, or facing upward without needing a tripod.
